Sylphyo v1.6.0 update

We're releasing the last Sylphyo update, v1.6.0, with seven new sounds:

Bass Brass: A bass-focused acoustic trombone- and tuba-like sound based on the Brass model.
Duduk: A duduk sound with a rich and warm tone, based on the Anyma Phi Windsyo model.
Sylphinet: A clarinet-like sound with extended range.
Cylysax: A physical model of a reed instrument with hints of soprano saxophone.
Sylphoon: A reed instrument sound resembling the pocket sax.
Flutodica: A responsive flute-like tone that can be morphed into a more free-reed sound.
Melodyion: A melodica physical model that can morph into accordion-like sounds with a bass voice.

Means, you will not make new software updates for my beloved Sylphyo?

Hm.. Manual has to be downloaded seperately, no readme file. There is a Sylphyo editor??? Never seen one.

Cut and paste error by the person updating the Aodyo website about the Anyma Phi and Sylphyo updates, I suspect? The Anyma Phi has a PC/Mac editor but the Sylphyo doesn't.

@zikojr Yes, there will no longer be Sylphyo updates. The company has closed down yesterday due to bankruptcy.

@join I've installed 1.6.0 on one Sylphyo-Link pair, and it checks out AOK from all the perspective I can think of ...

The New sounds are appreciated. I've always used the Link's internal sounds as backups to the VL70, CraftSynth, and Tooro, but I'm now using them more and more. Kalinka was a wonderful addition, and the I'm sure the new sounds will be put to use. The Cylysax and Melodyion are noticeably more quiet, but now that I'm using a mixer with MIDI control I can set the gain on the Link immediately with a song change without having to "fiddle" with knobs. (I've moved from a laptop-based setup to a Push3S + hardware setup, so all sounds are now "hardware" generated - a big improvement in reliability and latency and workability).

Of course, I am sad to hear about the financial situation, and hope that (no, make that "Know that") everyone in the company will land on their feet. You all have produced the most fantastic wind controller that I could have imagined, and it has greatly enriched my musical universe.

I'm guessing this forum will continue to live (for a while, at least) and I hope that there will be postings about possibilities for maintenance of our instruments down the road ...

@join oh no, is there a way to change the battery or repare the old instruments?

Anyone with a little mechanical skill and electronic knowledge can replace the battery. The blue ring at the top of the Sylphyo is originally attached with a little hot glue. Remove the ring (possibly with the help of hot air), open the Sylphyo and solder in a new battery. Screw the instrument back together and fix the ring with a little hot glue (or not). If you glue, do not cover the small rectangular slot. Two dots of glue on the solid edge will do.

The battery is industry standard:
Lithium-ion Cell
Type 18650 protected (!!!)
3000 mA or more

Why?

I specifically cover that hole to prevent moisture from entering ... Even bought a glue gun and learned how to apply hot glue for just this purpose ... There are messages in this forum discussing this issue.

Well, maybe it depends on the style and/or duration of playing, environment, who knows. The small hole on my Sylphyo is open since we dicussed this. Actually I forgot to glue the ring to the main case after re-assembling the instrument. Occasionally I lift the blue ring and it is always dry, so is the edge of the housing. Now I think, I should rather let the hole open for ventilation, in case some moisture comes from the electronics compartment underneath.

From a physical point of view, it seems logical to seal the hole. At least if you assume that moist air can condense on the metal ring. With my Sylphyo, however, there is no moisture on the ring, so I leave the hole open. But I have to say that I don't play sessions as long as you do and always under the same conditions in my home studio.

Perhaps I shouldn't have presented my method as a recommendation. It's just what works here.

Since I'm using the hydrophilic inserts in the Sylphyo mouthpieces, there is significantly less moisture internally. I don't recall ever getting the "dripping out the bottom" syndrome since I started using them.
