AnimaPhi Editor Import Patches / Bank doesn't work
-
Hi I've just received my Anima Phi few days ago.
First of all, I just try the synth more than an hour, discover the menu, try some sound parameters and WOW it's not just a new gadget, it's an amazing sound's sculpting tools, nice work !!! Félicitations à toute l'équipe ;)
So I tried to use Anima Phi Editor software Windows version to import new patches provided for early adopter but obviously it doesn't work. I try to import bank and nothing happen too. When I click on "import patch" or "import bank" nothing happen, this feature is not yet available ?
Other remark, when I want to use my master keyboard, selecting my keyboard MIDI input, to play sound in Anima Phi Editor, the software is waiting indefinitely. I have to select AnimaPhi on Input and Output to launch the software correctly so I can't play the sound I want to create, disturbing o_O!
Other remark bis, when I launch my DAW (Ableton Live) the Anima Phi port are not available when I start Anima Phi Editor so I can't use Anima Phi Editor at the same time with my DAW, it makes the creation workflow difficult, to see impossible.
For information, I use Windows 10 Pro (Build 19043.1052), I'm a french guy and write in english is not very smooth to me :D

Merci pour tes encouragements :) !

That nothing happens when clicking "Import patch" or "Import bank" on Windows is a problem, it's supposed to work. While we're fixing that, you can still drag and drop patches and banks from the Windows Explorer to the Editor window and it should still work.

The MIDI input and output you need to select in the Editor are those that correspond to the Anyma Phi. If you want to use your keyboard while still plugged into your computer, you would need to use a program such as MidiOx (or MidiPipe on macOS) that can forward a MIDI input to another MIDI output. Or you can simply plug your MIDI keyboard directly to your Anyma Phi. The Editor is a kind of remote control for the Anyma Phi, nothing more.

This looks like a Windows limitation, and if so, there's nothing we can do and it's indeed infortunate. Again, something like MidiOx could help because you could duplicate the MIDI data onto two different ports.

Thanks for the advice. A couple more issues regarding the editor:
• Export Bank - the app freezes for several minutes before any apparent action takes place. The screen on the Anyma Phi says "PLEASE WAIT..." but this message should be shown on the computer screen.
• How do create a Bank anyway - using Export Bank?
• Importing Patches - it would be great to be able to drag 'n' drop a whole bunch of patches at once.
• Can you add a "Do you really want to do this?" confirmation request for "Reset Bank".
It's a dangerous command!• An acknowledgment/progress msg whilst importing a Bank would be nice, i.e. "Importing...please wait"
• When importing a patch, it seems necessary to manually select a new empty patch slot,. Otherwise the current slot will be overwritten. Please make the import command automatically load into a new empty slot.
• I notice that the factory patch names all have a numerical prefix, 001, 002, 003, etc. Is this necessary or advisable?
• It would be good to be able to sort the patch list, by name, date, etc.
• It would be good to be able to gather patches together into user-defined types, e.g. Bells, Keyboards, Percussion, etc.
• Can you make the patch name field width adjustable please? It's too narrow.
I'm on a Mac by the way - Catalina 10.15.7

Yes, that would be a massive improvement,

@mickglossop Agreed. Being able to categorise patches by type of sound, and select them on that basis, would be a very useful feature.
Maybe add a favourites tag too, and make that one of the categories that can be chosen. Maybe have a category choice as a global menu option, with ALL, as a way of disabling it, then turning the encoder should select patches within the chosen category when it would normally work to select them from the entire list.

Good point. Import Patch has now been added to the context menu for each patch slot, so you can say where to put it. That works for me, but maybe it should now also be taken off the File menu, so you have to specify where you want it to go.
