At this point, we do not plan to release a VST/AU version of the Anyma Phi.

@drfritzon said in Anyma Phi Updates:

      @laurent_aodyo Well..expression? X, Y and Z could be mapped to a wide variety of options ...

Such as? The channels of the standard MPE system cannot be determined, the numbers are automatically rotated according to some algorithm. Parallel streams of pitchbend, aftertouch and CC74 left without channel definition sounds more like problems than creative possibilities.

      Hello.

      a) Using external USB midi controller to play or remote control the Anyma Phi is the reason why we integrated a USB Host plug. Only thing to know is that we didn't had the chance to check every MIDI controller with the Anyma Phi but any class compliant USB MIDI controller should work.
We tested the Korg Nanostudio which is a superset of Korg Nanokey2.

      b) MPE compatibility
As a monophonic synth, the Anyma Phi is not really MPE compatible but can be setup to behave as one MPE voice

      c) yes adaptation of all the patch is possible to use the Piezo as a note trigger instead of external MIDI device

Hope this make things clear to you

Unless a new Sylphyo appears with 10x the processing power, it's unlikely that it's gonna be able to rival computer-based physical models of winds, so no offense taken :).

As for directions for the future, I guess it'll focus on the controller part (reliability, ease of switching between different configurations, more options) about as much as the sound part.

@join OK, this is excellent. More than the details, it gives me a whole new perspective on latency ... (but the details are cool too!)

      Thank you !!!

      (and thanks @Peter-Ostry as well)

It also explains why I saw significantly different MIDI coming out of the Link vs. the Sylphyo USB port for the same input ...

      Hi Thomas,

It wasn't practical explaining the whole thing in the release notes, but you can find them in the Fingerings section of the user guide. I've highlighted the changes in the picture below.

Have you tried a full reset on the Sylphyo?

I would suggest, before doing so, writing down each and every setting you have. We currently have to restore those settings by hand since there is no SYSEX save / restore capability.

You might consider a document that shows which settings differ from the defaults so that you only have to set those settings which change from the Reset / Default values.

@join Thank you very much for your input! The powerbank was the right tip!
So with the 3-in-1 adapter, a powerbank and a Y-cable it now works.
I had to plug-in the headphones to the adapter and connect the adapter to the iPhone. Then connect the additional power supply part of the Y-cable with the powerbank, the Y-cable with Sylphyo. Then plug in the Y-cable with power and sylphyo to the adapter.
After doing so I could start Audiobus app and play a software synth (Respiro) with my Sylphyo and a play along over my headphones :-)
All in all it’s not the sleekest solution, but hey - it works.

      Thanks again for your support,
      Christian

      doesn't use Bluetooth

Thank heavens!! The Link radio interface is far superior to Bluetooth ...

Note that the Link unit has a rather complex routing setup that opens up a lot of possibilities. I have used it in a number of cases to reduce the number of boxes I need for certain live setups. Here is a map I've done of the routings (using Aodyo documentation and my own testing). The MIDI section is on the right, the audio section is on the left, and the middle "Synth" section converts incoming MIDI (on four input channels) to Audio (using the same internal sounds as the Sylphyo, as long as you've installed the same firmware on both your Sylphyo and Link):

Well, the messages on the screen certainly suggest that's happening,

Sorry, I left it a bit unclear. Though the messages suggest the patch is being saved, it is not being saved. if you go to another patch, and come back, all you get is an initialised patch (sine wave). The only thing that has been saved is the name of the imported patch, everything else is gone.

      @join Thanks for that!

Been playing with Reaction Time and Reaction Time Octaves and I'm getting the feeling that Reaction Time Octaves only comes in to play when I move from one thumb pad to another. My issue seems to occur mostly when I lift my thumb (and simultaneously change fingering on the front side).

In the fingering I'm using, lifting the thumb goes up an octave ... but this seems to use the Reaction Time delay and not the Reaction Time Octaves delay. Is that correct??

One solution is to introduce a very slight articulation to interrupt the airflow. I've started doing this subconsciously and this reduces artifacts (pops and beeps) substantially.

Sorry, but our desktop software does not support Linux (and even if we provide a Linux build of the latest Anyma Phi editor, we do not offer support for it).
If it doesn't appear to work with the latest version of wine, your best bet would probably be running it on a virtual machine.

Wow, that must have been a bit frightening!

Yes, like all things wireless, as most are more or less restricted by law to the same 2.4 GHz band, when things get very crowded it can quickly turn into a silent fight for bandwidth, and WiFi often wins (hopefully, nowadays WiFi is pushing towards the 5 GHz band and even other higher bands, so in time this will be less of a problem).
The best thing to do to avoid this kind of thing would be to pair the Sylphyo and Link again when beginning the sound check, making sure all the other wireless gear is on-stage too and active, so that the Sylphyo/Link will fail to pair in the more-crowded channels, and will naturally land into a less-crowded channel.

@meo Yes I meant range. Set it to 3000 (max). Set the minimum to 30. in MIDI mapping set BC to CC2 and Velocity to Dynamic. If still no change, try RESET (last menu item) and repeat.... Also have you checked the fingering chart for the instrument you have chosen. (under KEYS/Fingering). Good luck.... It seems a pity to give up so quickly...

I did some more testing and I'm sure it is coming form Phi. Out both phones and L and R out. I tried reducing both FX on the patch but it is still crackling. I'll try to get the MIDI exported from the Deluge so you can see. I can also provide a sound file if you wish.

@peter-ostry Thanks Peter! Part of what I am thinking is suggestion number 2 of @gbarcza :

"a finger velocity sensivity adjustment to filter out unwanted bending while normal playing"

... along with maybe an addition setting to not begin key-bending until some percentage of the pad is uncovered.

The act of key bending on physical open-hole flutes is sooo natural and common that I think it would provide a very direct means of expressivity to a significant percentage of potential Sylphyo players ...

Making use of CC's to accomplish key-bending is (I'm thinking out loud here ...) maybe not so straightforward ... such a system would need to know which base key is in effect in order to determine which pair of notes we are bending from (easy - the prior Note On) and to (challenging - where is the target note??)
