      Hi @zelio

Do you connect both with USB : the editor and the daw ?

      That does not work,

I cannot test : No Phi yet

I suggest you connect the editor with USB
      and the DAW with midi

Maybe Join can chime in ??

To me to have the editor in the DAW complicates matters.

      Hi @peter-ostry

The Midi channels will be different for each note played, the CC are fixed
And since the Phi is in omni receive mode, all channels will be received.

since the Phi is monophonic one has to adapt the playing style to single notes,

Unles you wat to create a 4 voice or 8 voice Anyma Phi. Like Oberheim did with the 4 voice and 8 voice machine, constructed with 4 to 8 SEM modules. Will be interesting !!

I whish i had the funds to create such a machine

      Hi @fanch35

USB has two types of devices : A device : and a host

If the machine you want to connect to is a Device , you need a Host adapter

I do not know what a Reverso is but, if you plug it in acomputer and works, most probably it behaves as a device..

      Maybe this helps

      Hi Peter

That is a good one ! I do not know yet : is in my planning

I want to control from a device all my PC changes and settings.

Before i have been using the Syl just as a wind instrument.

I want to control it from Gig control, which can change audio setups and midi setups. Will scan through manuals, and try some setups and bother the Aodyo guys.

      Concerning Loud guitars

Guitarists use rather big speakers ( the cone) for the frequency range, which results in a rather narrow high frequency beam. They stand high above that and in order to hear properly raise the volume. I point the cabs at their ears.. etc.

      =-=
Multichannel? That is me !!! I have been at least quadraphonic for many years , and now updating my studio to multichannel. Seven channels now and 24 more are waiting to be connected.. We should keep in touch about that too

@peter-ostry You have the blofeld on om omni. If the use different channels , Link on 1 and b;ofeld on two, one can send PC commands over the same line

Nodoubt the Gordius cab send complicated commands f.i. PC on channel 1 only or two different PC on channel one and two...

      Hi Peter

I do not know the Gordius, looked at it for a moment. But this does not mean what it can do. But is it just an idea to do program changes from the Gordius? I have always been using a pedal to sent PC to the machines attached.

It is more natural life, and on the small screen of the Syl it is not very comfortable.

      @clint

I have the instrument for a long time. I have no moisture issues. Always put it upright like my Soprano sax. No moisture issues, the climate here is wettish. 60 70 percent humidity, temp 17 to 20 degrees . I am a bad host , never even bother to clean it. It is the only wind controller I play. Since the Sylphyo i do not touch the Ewi and wx5 anymore. Actually i hardly touch the soprano..

I see sometimes that the response is odd in the beginning, but that is my fingers, not the instrument. Specially the pinkies are a bit awkward.

I just did the latest update: and saw in the text that the octave response is altered. I had no problems with that..

To feed any germs inside, i play a bit after i took a fresh sip of sugar free drink like jenever.

On the kick starter a new envelope generator is announced :

DAHDSR (decay, attack, hold, delay, sustain, release) envelope.

Looks like the message from the module developer has been misinterpreted:

The first D looks like it is a delay time before the envelops starts, and the second D is the decay time from the hold stage into the sustain level. A welcome addition

Hi Bernard, the XpressO and the Roland as inprinciple the same age: they both use samples. The Vl70 uses mathematical models of the instruments, wwhich means they react the same as the akoustic instrument. Like on the real instrument, when you blow to hard is overblows, generates the same overtones, so sounds more realistic. The learning phase is also a bit more than compared to a sample instrument..

Though rather old, people still come to check wat synth i used for some sounds..

      Hi Mothyb

what i have seen and heard from the Xpresso, it s rather expensive gor what it offers. What i see what you need as sounds, i would advice the Yamaha VL70 m. It has the most natural soundings sounds. For the most natural sounds i advice the Patchman rom. One can check his sounds at his site. I have played a rather convincing violin in a string quartet..

I am more into experimental sounds, so i have replaced the VL70 with an ASM Hydrasynth.

In the NI conversation they talk about the curve, while i think that is not your problem : it is low values of breath.

Interesting ! I think the clue about what it is, can be found in a midi monitor.
My first impression is that the the tone generator does not properly react on the low pressure.
I use the full rage : from very low to very high. Now to virtual instuments hosted by Gig performer: its midi monitor shows the gigantic range.

Nice sound: I am not trying to play "real" instruments. I combine it with a Vl70m with the Patchman rom. Found that i play most the Plate model..

I tried several valves from aquarium shops, found that those intrinsically have to much resistance.

With each adjustment one has to learn how to play with that: so i concluded that a valve is overkill. I used black gaffa tape.

      @Sarge707

Hi Serge, i think we are totally different players. Nothing is wrong with that. We share the age.

I am from a jazz background, an modern music. I am a big Coltrane fan, i am more into shaping the tone, lIke Archie Shepp's later years, Chat Baker maybe , slow Miles, Ella and Billy Holiday style.

I Married the WX windcontrollers with a Kurzweil K2000 to make my own tones or sounds. Later joined with a Physical modelling synth, the Yamaha VL70m. There one could make similar sounds ike the mistakes one makes on an acoustic instruments, like overblowing.

The WX controllerswere rather primitive: Breath, pitch in the good way, with the mouth , and a modulation wheel.

The WX es were rather breakable, so i added a EWI 4000. I found that a total desaster`: with bite you add a vibrato from a LFO ? Pitch was two half wheels with the right thumb?
I could not do the things i do with the internal sound. Midi was not wireless. And on stage it is warm, one sweats: when th controls touch a sweaty shirt, it is out of control. I sold the 4000 immediately.

When my last WX broke down, i got an EWI 5000 hoping that this was a cure: least i had a windcontroller.

When i found out about the Sylphyo, i immediately ordered one. I think i have one of the first white ones, La Neige. It looks like a toy, not a golden flute, more like a baby drinking bottle. And it plays like a toy: so much fun to play! I blocked the air exit with a piece of tape, so i have the right amount of backpressure and a need less air to make a tone.

First strikes is the enormous dynamic range : from pppp to FFFFF, easy and natural. One can really whisper, And raise natural. Tongueing is like a recorder. Simple.
Helas no pitch reed, But it has alternatives. Up and down movement changes the pitch: I add vibrato like a cellist on the string. A natural way and in control.

an other way is via the fingers: Sylpyo allows half hole fingering, like on a flute or recorder. this allows pitch bend up, and down.

Top of the right hand slider window is also set to pitch bend. I have assigned it to something else ( sometimes a puff of breath noise)

One of the great things about the Sylphyo is the extremely versatile configuration options. all controllers can be assigned as you wish. Which means also tht you have to know what you are doing, and it can mean that one has to learn from scratch how to play.

Same for the fingering: you could choose EVI (three valve something) I started on Sax, than i wondered why should i use the ugly fork grips? I changed to EWI + left pinky, which allows me to play easy chromatically. Back to the exercise board, scales scales. It workes but sometimes my mind switches to sax. And that is messy.

I am marrying the Sylphyo to a ASM Hydrasynth Destop + Vl70m when i play computerless, with computer i use the Respiro and [Surge](lihttps://surge-synthesizer.github.io/nk url)

Hope i gave you some idea

Hi I am a long time windplayer. Except for the Aerophone I owned and play the Yamaha wx series , The Ewi 4000 and 5000.

The Sylphyo is a big upgrade to all. Far more expressive, and a real musical instrument. since my upgrade i have never touched the others.

I have not played the Aerophone, but from the specifications, i conclude that it would be a step back.

I am considering the Photon, because i miss the pitch control via the lips: i come from the saxophone family of wind instruments.

The Sylpyo is truly wireless Audio and midi.

To be honest, i cannot imagine one plays the three of them, unless one depends on the internal sounds. The Sylphyo can do more than both the EWI and the Aerophone.

i use the Syl to control the hardware synth Hydrasynth Desktop, and software synths : Respiro from Imoxplus, The Surge , PA Thorn and some more.

      Hi Badblock

I have used similar placeholders : like email adres : write frank =writef , domain name stdio> My nephew copied the habit as well.

If you ant to get rid of badblocks management: switch to ZFS , it is a dream come true. Too bad the team was bought by Oracle, but they all ran away and ZFS is and stays open source.

What is your usage of the Sylphio? I am originally a sax player (Tenor Soprano, two completely different beasts. Needs separate training to play both well. I played load because that was necessary at the times, which meant playing at home was nearly impossible. I had spare time: so i bought a synth (Yamaha SY99) and because you cannot have expression with a keyboard added a windcontroller. Found a had a huge new range of sounds. So WXX and kurzweil were a team for many years.

Exchanged the Kurzwejl for laptop with virtual instruments. Setup times and the continious fight for low latency made me switch to this new wonder :The Hydrasynth. A true very versatile wonder in a compact case.

I changed the fingering on the Syl to non sax : left pinky half tone up, right pinky half tone down. Works very well on legato play, but needs exercise, sometimes my mind changes back to original sax, more scales i than think.

Good luck with you tube case, and happy blowing !

      Hi Badblocks

Are you a Unix fan ? because of the name.

I did it the primitive way, took the Sylphio to the shop and tried where i fits in. If you just want to fit theInstrument 750 mm will do. If you want to add the Link box 800 mm. For the end stopper i used a pair of old socks ( after washing) and the linkbox i put in a sock as well. In PVC you have the screw on lids: and a thread you glue in. I made a cut out on the thread adapter so the carrying strap fits in.

If you make the tube a bit longer you can fit wiring and power adapters as well.

      Good luck

Two discs whit a hole to keep the instrument centered. The link and strap go on top. On the pic the carrying tube for the EWI5000, made abolete by the sylphio.

When i carry a module : My joy is the ASM Hydrasynth Desktop. Its 19" and i use a small flightcase for light mixers. It is 8 ubits high, the Sylphyo stacks nicely with a VL70m, under the Hydra. A Motu 8A is my remote mixer/ digital interface. I love quick response and setup. Never more than 3 cables to connect or disconnect : Power + left right, or power and ethernet AVB. Stereo or all cha![alt text](image url)nnels individual.
The case Messy now : reconfiguration

    • RE: Tips for fast, clean octave+note changes?

Except for the lowest and highest octave i never lift my thumb, always slide.
I have a history with windcontrollers, Yamaha and Akai Ewi , and sliding is always the good option. Ewi has rollers, making it a easier than the Yamaha. Sylphyo is best, except for the screw , but one gets quickly used to that.

Many times i have portamento on: not to cover glitches, but rather to get a nice pitch bend up to the actual note. Making up a bit for the missing mouth controlled pitch bend. The length of the slur depends on the previous note. One can create a longer slur by quickly tapping a (much) lower octave. It is a pity not all internal sounds have portamento enabled.
I did not check yet if one can switch portamento on via midi input: would be lovely.

Sure needs practise to learn how to slide fast , but thet is part of the game

    • RE: No sound

Many times i see that the USB does not connect properly: a computer problem. Unplugging the USB and pluggin reconnects. My midi (din) connection to another device is always there.

I use two computers : windows 10 and Mac. Windows disconnects slightly more than Apple. And it is just not the Syllink, other usb midi devices show the same behaviour. Other devices like keyboard, HDU i never notice this.

Sorry i cannot offer a solution except use DIN Midi

    • RE: I want to transpose

      Hi ghostdic

You can like Maxence said, and how is not very obvious in the manual
How can be found in the section getting started
      https://www.aodyo.com/user-manual-page-en-21.html#section-getting-started.default-mappings

Look for the section quick settings : you will get at quick setting bij pressing the aodyo symbol at the front.
Now press and hold the highest key at the back, and now one can change the base key with the Increase and decrease keys ( D settings key)

Once you have tried, you will wonder why you have not seen it before, it is that simple

    • RE: Mises à jour des versions

      @Daniel57

      Merci Daniel pour la compliment!

I think it is better not to separate the forum into languages. Better put the question in ones native language, and maybe an effort to put it in any common language.

Thanks for translating : i updated my French a bit

Back to my Sylphyo + with Respiro
My favourite internal sound now is 26 : Breathed on Bach

I feel this forum we should use to share idea's about playing a wind instrument and which tone generators one uses. i see Sylphyo and Respiro : S and Tonegenerator X , Sylphyo and VL70 more interesting. No doubt there will be animo to help each other

      Kind Regards
