I am becoming disillusioned... last update in March last year.... Is it time to consider other wind controller options? A frank open answer would be appreciated... Thanks

Ok, when did your trumpet and bass flute get the last update, apart from the cleaning cloth and a few drops of oil here and there?
Don't blame me, this was meant as a joke :-)

I'm not a fan of frequent updates for an instrument where I have to internalize or even relearn behavior after changes. The Sylphyo works for my use and as it is, along with the Link box, as a standalone system, I can play it forever. For my guitars and other instruments, I rarely want updates and if so, then only for certain areas of playability...

...and that's a method I'd like to suggest to Aodyo. A large proportion of users think that software for electronic instruments needs to be updated regularly. Although this is actually not the case, as can be seen with most keyboards and synthesizers. For the more sensitive Sylphyo I think it is possible to improve the software in separated sections, concentrated on the most requested parts that you are trying to get perfect.
That could result in an update every six months or so. With an overhauled main section (the theme) and a few bugfixes.

          @Paul-Flute
Yes Paul, I agree with you!
Aodyo developers, what is your answer, please?

I do find myself drawn mostly to the LUB (Less Updates are Better) camp, so @Peter-Ostry pretty much said it.

I had a well-meaning update by a developer of a hardware unit of mine cripple the unit for me (possibly irrevocably) and it is now out of my rig and garnering dust. Sad. Frustrating. Expensive. Such a fate cannot happen with the Sylphyo or I'll be totally SNAFU.

That said, critical bugs that prevent use or cause crashes need updates. Also, I would welcome additional fingerings, which are unlikely to disturb existing users.

For me, the question is more what we can do as a community to enhance the instrument. This forum does feel a bit thin compared with other vibrant message boards. Some things that come to mind ...

            • Suggestions / experiences with cleaning
            • Has anyone experienced the issues with salt on their fingers causing fingering issues.
            • Experience interfacing with units X, Y, and Z.
            • Experience with various settings and why you use them.
            • Playing videos, educational videos, getting started videos.
            • Routing possibilities with the Link (its a real goldmine, I have found).
            • Latency discussions
            • Rig setups
            • What happens when the battery wears out

... and on and on and on.

I'm guessing that prospective purchasers visit this forum to check out the community activity and enthusiasm. If they see a thin message board, they may be turned off ...

Easy answer is: yes we are working on new things for the Sylphyo. But don't ask us for a timeline.

We are still gathering evolution requests and check what is possible in the Sylphyo embedded software platform. As already stated, some enhancements require a full software platform rewrite which requires months of work.

Next firmware version will be available when we feel it would be ready for release (and probably provided to volunteer beta tester prior to this release).

Meanwhile, I wish any Sylphyo player to enhance his skills on the instrument and play good music (it would interesting to share links to the music you are playing with the Sylphyo).

Completely agree with @Clint and @Peter-Ostry
                I'm too a LUB' man...

What is the main force of the Sylphyo versus Ewi (the main competitor ?) ?
3 ways to manage a CC number only by the mouvements of the instrument !
Only the Nurad (i haven't one...) is perhaps superior.
So, for me a priority of an "update" could be an improvement of that huge capacity to manage CC channels.
Keep that specifity, improve it and as we said in Normandy "petit à petit l'oiseau fera son nid".
                Enjoy

How do we become beta-tester? I do not remember

@Clint The LUB camp should be disbanded. It seems Aodyo is squarely in the SOR camp (shortage of resources). When obvious problems manifest and improvements needed, the users deserve them, as soon as possible. The continuous striving for excellence is an outstanding quest...... I would like to become a beta (better) tester.... P
