I can confirm as of now the list of sounds is exactly the same in both. This is done to allow the near-instantaneous wireless latency as the same sound card is present in both Sylphyo and Link.

Hey! Sorry to get back to you so late, seeing as I believe we covered these topics in our email conversation.
The 8 hours charging time before first use it simply to ensure the battery is fully charged and to calibrate it properly.
Charging more than 8 hours will not hurt the battery as the charging turns off automatically when the battery is full. In other words, no need to set your alarm!

To apply the latest update to your Link, you follow the same update procedure as for your Sylphyo, except on the Link :) SO connect it to your computer, launch the update, turn on the Link, wait for the update to complete, turn the link off and then back on and it's ready to use.

@rothen_s Yes the common solution for this is to use an audio interface. The fact that you have not been using one would explain why you have had trouble connecting to a windows computer. An external audio interface essentially bypasses your built-in sound card and lets you get clean audio with very little latency. Most also come with microphone preamps as well. For example the one I use at the moment lets me connect up to 8 sources individually, so I would use the stereo left and right outputs from the Link receiver and connect them into, for example, input 1 and 2 on my audio interface, and then if I want a microphone as well I can connect it to input 3, and if it requires phantom power some interfaces also allow you to individually turn on phantom power for any channel. Most interfaces also include outputs to monitor speakers, headphones and more. They range anywhere from small desktop interfaces with one or two inputs and a headphone output all the way to large rackmounted interfaces with up to 96 inputs, and even more on some very specialised models! If you do not have one already you should definitely look into it. They are essential for any kind of modern audio work.
For your question about the Link, it does have sounds in it actually! It contains exactly the same sound card as the one built in to the Sylphyo. The Link can both receive and send midi data, so that is what happens when you use the Sylphyo wirelessly connected to the Link which is plugged in to the computer. However, Midi data does not transmit audio, but can be used to control audio, with a computer or a synthesizer.
The simplified reason why the Sylphyo and Link have a near-instantaneous connection is because we are only transmitting midi data between the two, not audio.
I think there was some misunderstanding. What I had understood was that the Sylphyo Link had only 5 sounds in it, so I was correcting that, sorry for the mistake! The Sylphyo Bench software does indeed have 5 sounds built-in. The Bench was meant originally as a simple midi functionality test, so we are not at the moment planning any updates to it.
With regards to the battery drain, if you take my sylphyo which I have been using every day for the past two years, the battery is still lasting a significant amount of time despite constantly using it plugged in as well as in various modes, both on stage and as a midi controller. So I can assure you the battery is not very much affected by plugging in the Sylphyo.

Here are a few corrections and remarks about the article:
First, the Link has all the sounds contained within the Sylphyo, you just need to update your Link in the same way as your Sylphyo. These sounds can be used wirelessly with Sylphyo or independently with another midi controller, using the usb or the Midi DIN ports on the Link.
Secondly, plugging in your Sylphyo via usb to use it as a midi controller does not actually drain the battery or ruin it. This would have been the case many years ago with older batteries, but newer batteries are much more resistant to this kind of wear, so much so that they do not deteriorate significantly from being plugged in.
As for your comments about using Sylphyo and Link with a windows computer, we regularly use windows computers (I myself use one almost exclusively) for our music and have not had a problem with latency and no needs for specialised drivers. Can you tell us more about this issue? Are you using windows 10 or a previous windows OS?
Regarding your comment about no bluetooth functionality in the Sylphyo, we chose not to include bluetooth connectivity because it is generally slow, unreliable and has poor range. Instead, the proprietary wireless technology that connects the Sylphyo with the Link receiver has a range of more than 20 metres, a latency of less than 1ms and is very reliable.

From our experience the best way to get around this limitation is to assign (if you can) midi cc11 (expression) which is used in the Sylphyo as default for breath control to a vca within your synth. I have used this technique with hardware synths as well as eurorack synths and some soft synths. Let me know if this is helpful!

Pour contrôler le vibrato grâce au roulis, il faudrait à mon avis regarder dans le manuel du Waldorf pulse 2 et ensuite changer la valeur cc du roulis dans le Sylphyo pour correspondre à celle du pulse 2. Je ne connais pas bien ce synthétiseur mais je pense que cela doit être possible tant que le pulse 2 peut recevoir une valeur de vibrato (midi cc 1 normalement ?).

For the charging indicator, you are able to see the Sylphyo charging if you turn it on while it is charging.
Otherwise, we will look into your suggestions for improvements.
For the quick start videos, this is something we have been talking about improving, and I will try to do some better ones as soon as I have the time.
I will need to speak with our developers about the idea of a GitHub repository, and we will see what they say.

Sorry to hear you are having some problems with your Sylphyo.
This is something we are actively looking into.
As a temporary fix, you can play through the Link receiver which is working to output sounds, or you can revert back to a previous version (1.4.2 works well).
We will let you know if we find anything more and once we are able to have a fix for this issue.

Thank you for your message and I apologise for the time it has taken to reply.
New updates can be applied to Sylphyo v1 (pre built-in sounds) with no problems.
All the firmware will work with both versions of Sylphyo.
However, Sylphyo V1 does not have any sounds, so anything to do with new sounds will obviously not function.

You can try looking into the midi options for Logic.
Maybe contacting the Apple support team could help resolve the issue?

We do sell the Link receiver which is the dedicated upgraded wireless connection hub of the Sylphyo.

What you can do is simply right click on the update file and click open, and it should give you the option to open it despite the update not being verified by Apple.
This will also work for your problems with the Sylphyo Bench.

Pour les amplis, nous recommandons généralement des amplis de basse.
Pour les pédales d'effets, il y a pleins de possibilités. Si vous préférez utiliser le reverb inclut dans le Sylphyo, vous pouvez acheter une pédale de délai et peut être une chorus pour des sons intéressants. Sinon une bonne pédale de reverb peut être utilisée pour complémenter les sons du Sylphyo.
Je note votre demande d'un éditeur de sons, je transmets cela a l’équipe !
Pour les sons des vidéos, nous essayons le plus possible d'utiliser les sons de l'instrument sans modifications.
Il y a en effet toujours la possibilité de 'secouer' l'instrument afin d'entrer en mode mouvement pour sortir des sons.
Pour la carte son, c'est en fait une double carte son qui est présente a la fois dans le Sylphyo et dans le boîtier Link externe.
Une simple enceinte JBL devrait suffir pour transmettre le son en effet, a travers un câble auxiliaire branché directement au Sylphyo ou en passant par le Link. Cependant, il faut faire attention a la latence qui peut être parfois présente dans le petites enceintes qui ne sont pas forcement conçues pour amplifier de la musique en temps réel.

Pour les enceintes compatible, vous pouvez utiliser pratiquement n'importe quelle enceinte vous offrant une entrée mini jack.
Nous avons tendance à recommandé des amplis de basse qui ont une bonne clarté, mais ne sont pas petits.
Le link est nécessaire pour jouer sans-fil, mais vous pouvez facilement brancher le Sylphyo directement à une entrée mini jack grâce à la sortie audio situé sur l'instrument et un câble auxiliaire basique.

Le Sylphyo est en effet autonome depuis un bout de temps.
Pour répondre à vos questions:
Il y a maintenant 16 sons internes, avec plusieurs autres qui sont en développement.
Les sons internes ne peuvent pas être modifiés, mais ils offrent tous de grandes possibilités d'expression grâce aux différentes fonctions du Sylphyo (slider bas/haut/milieu, mouvement, keybend, etc.).
On ne peut pas fabriquer ses propres sons et les rajouter non.
Mais nous sortons des mises à jours fréquentes avec des nouveaux sons et des nouveaux paramètres.
Pour le son stranger things, je ne suis pas sûr mais je vais le renseigner.
Secouer le Sylphyo peut être utiliser pour engager un vibrato ou pour enclencher le mode mouvement.
Le temps de livraison dépendra de votre localisation. Nous expédions les commandes sous 2 jours ouvrables.

In order to turn potamento on and then off you can use the slider from the bottom to turn it on, and then use the slider from the bottom again but this time going back down, so you would swipe up, keep your finger on the slider, and then slide back down until you are off the slider. You can also alternatively touch the bottom part of the slider to turn off portamento.

To answer your questions:
The contest was for people to be able to get early access to our latest sounds, not for them to make their own sounds. As a result, they had to share the video, like our page as well as tag their friends in order to have a chance to win.
For the DSI Evolver, it looks like it accepts breath control. Looking at the manual, this should be set as CC2. However, by default the Sylphyo is set up to send breath as a CC11 (Expression) message. What I would advise is to go to the MIDI Mapping in the Sylphyo menu and set the Breath CC message to CC2. Let me know if this works!
