National Mission On Oilseeds And Oil Palm (NMOOP) was launched on the 5th of July 2014 with a view to achieving self-sufficiency in edible oils in India by the year 2020.

The mission is being implemented by an Expert Committee comprising members from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. The first meeting of the mission was held on 14th September 2014 for its inter-ministerial consultation.
