@clint When you say PLA does that mean polyurethane? I'm also thinking that maybe I could try carving a small rubber stopper with my Dremel tool (or use an Exacto blade) since I don't own or have access to a 3D printer. I also have some of that hot water molding plastic that I think has been mentioned. Anyways I like the way you think and then you go make something happen, you're totally DIY minded.

RE: Electronic Wind Instruments Intro Video
@clint Wow that is such a great idea in terms of preserving the sounds of these historical Native American flutes and an absolutely outstanding video, very impressive. You did an outstanding job explaining so that almost anyone can understand how this all works. I am watching and will rewatch this many times, close to 48 minutes and every second well spent. I too fell in love with the Sylphyo and ordered one right before I got the Anyma Phi, it was the sample sounds that were so impressive. You're making a very important point that the breath pressure isn't being designed for nor sampled like it should, nice to see how you're solving some of this with the breath curves. I also learned about back pressure plugs, I didn't know about those. You mentioned that the Yamaha VL70m uses equations, seems like a fuzzy logic type of approach. If I'm not mistaken this is also how the Anyma Phi works? I know that you're making your libraries free to download and of course we should mention this whenever we use them (Creative Commons Attribution) but is there also some way I could donate to the overall project? This is a very worthwhile project that you're involved with and I would like to contribute to it. Naturally I will get a copy of the Kontakt C platform which is required. Clint you're an amazing human being, so glad that I am getting to chance to learn from you. You're helping me become a better musician sort to speak by letting me stand on your shoulders.

RE: Anyma Phi Compatible Keyboards (esp. mini keyboards)
@join thank you for these details and yes I will report the Akai Mini MK3 which doesn't seem to work at all and spent quite a few days in the Land of Frustration thinking that I had a bad Anyma Phi but it was a good learning experience in terms of learning patience and not jumping to conclusions. I feel really blessed to be part of this community and the people here are incredibly gifted and helpful. The only way to truly say thanks is to learn as much as I can and apply it to making truly beautiful and innovative new music.

RE: Muta Flutes: Ideas on how to reduce the static sound?
@milododds ok it must be something I'm not doing right. I just discovered this video from Julien Tortora...omg he sounds absolutely amazing. Youtube Video

RE: Anyma Phi Compatible Keyboards (esp. mini keyboards)
@moogyloogy thank you for these details. I will take a look at these three keyboards. Those are some nice keyboards in comparison to what I was trying to use, the problem is that I like all three of them.

Anyma Phi Compatible Keyboards (esp. mini keyboards)
Hello Fellow Anyma Phi Community Members,
If possible I would like to gather a list of known keyboards that work with the Anyma Phi and even those which do not work.
-
Compatible: Chordmonger
-
Non-Compatible: AKAI Professional MPK Mini MK3.
I'm particularity interested in which mini-keyboards are compatible? I am hesitant in purchasing another mini keyboard unless I know it will work.
Thanks,

Muta Flutes: Ideas on how to reduce the static sound?
I was able to record tracks for all of the default patches, this would be useful to those who might be interested in purchasing the Anyma Phi. I really hope the Anyma Phi catches on and deemed a huge success. I'm very much interested in creating new patches. What I am discovering that there are a few controls in the matrix that have a huge impact on the sound of each of the patches. The one patch I am struggling the most with is Muta Flutes, seems like too much static. Not sure if there is a way to reduce the static when a note is being held? Seems like the longer you play the static seems to go away (see track #3): https://soundcloud.com/milo-dodds/sets/anyma-phi-samples

RE: Homegrown Travel Case
@clint This is awesome, you've just given me an idea. I'm going to run down to Home Depot and get a piece of black ABS pipe with caps and create a small case while using some grey foam to go around the Sylphyo. It's one of those instruments you just want to take to the park or out into the woods. This way it will be waterproof let alone can absorb shock if accidently dropped.

RE: Is it possible to connect the Anyma Phi straight to a DAW like GarageBand?
@andyhornblower Hi Andy - just now saw your post, we were out and about over the weekend. Yes I will totally check out your recommendation for Cockos Reaper, a sweet name. Yes Nick Batt is incredible, love that man and his depth of knowledge and experience goes deep. I also keep track of not only his Sonicstate podcasts but also SanjayC and Taetro. If I am not mistaken SanjayC podcasts is how I discovered Anyma Phi. Yes I will be recording soon via my M-Track Duo to my DAW. Btw we should connect via Soundcloud, I would love to hear your music. My channel is: [https://soundcloud.com/milo-dodds/](link url), I only do this as a hobby and would love to get into producing background music for podcasts, videos and movies. I'm a big fan of musical geniuses like Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone who btw passed away last July at 92 years old...such an amazing person. As we know the potential for the Anyma Phi is HUGE, especially once we all get good at creating new patches. It is also a very affordable way to get into monophonic/polyphonic electronic based music which I have acquired an ear for. Aodyo was super smart doing what they have done with how they are positioning the Anyma Phi, it's going to open a lot of doors for people like me.

RE: Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
@milododds I am now getting decent volume both through the headphones and speaker. I wish I knew exactly what I did to fix that particular sub-issue but it's now sounding amazing. I am now learning how every control within the Matrix effects the sound. So far "Tuning" is my favorite. I still have much to learn but I don't feel lost or frustrated any longer. I hope that my post helps anyone who might be trying to use a non-compatible keyboard. Case closed.

RE: Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
Hi Andy & Matthias,
I have great news! I just figured out the issue. The keyboard is not compatible. Instead I have this little midi keyboard called the Chordmonger and sure enough I got things working or at least sort of working (i.e. the sound is still a bit faint) but I was able to get actual Anyma Phi sounds coming out of the device while it was connected to the Chordmonger keyboard. Maybe down the road it would be wonderful to support the Akai mini keyboards which are extremely popular with newbies like me. I still would like to figure out how to get MIDI and GarageBand (GB) working, perhaps it's just my lack of experience but GB sees 3 midi devices when connected to the AnymaPhi. The problem is where does one go from there? There's no plugin I'm aware of that identifies it as a source. Well I'm excited about getting something to work with the Anyma Phi.
-
RE: Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
@andyhornblower Thanks Andy - yes I am probably in good hands with Matthias. I've literally just about stayed up all night long trying to figure things out. Good thing I don't have work tomorrow.
-
RE: Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
@andyhornblower Matthias was able to confirm that the volume control is working via the diagnostic program. I am able to go from 0 to 4095 and the white LED is working properly in terms of the dimmer. So that's a good sign. I'm praying it's something simple that I've overlooked. As we say in technical support it's generally user error is the issue.
-
RE: Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
@andyhornblower unfortunately no luck. I can tell I am sending signals via the LEDs in the cable. I really think there is something wrong with either the volume and/or the head phone socket. I'm probably going to need to have to ship it back and have it replaced. Really bummed at this point. Btw if anyone reading this happens to be from the San Francisco Bay Area (Silicon Valley), perhaps we could connect if you have a working Anyma Phi and I could bring mine to you to test out. Thanks :)

RE: Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
@milododds Any suggestions on how to set these pulldowns within the virtual keyboard settings? I can see by the LEDs on the mini usb cable that it flashes when I hit keys on the virtual keyboard but still no sound in the headphones for the Anyma Phi. I'm wondering if maybe the Head Phones connector might be faulty?

RE: Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
@andyhornblower said in Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?:
USB-MIDI interface
Hi Andy - I just got one yesterday, a FORE midi interface and I also have a Windows laptop. Let me see if I can try your suggestion. Many thanks for providing me an alternative means of testing my Anyma Phi. I will let you know how it went.

Anyma Phi - Might I have a BB (Bad Board)?
I have spent countless hours trying to get the Anyma Phi to work. I haven't gotten a single sound out of it. Sure I can see various visual patterns on the display screen. I have been able to upgrade the firmware but when it comes to getting any sound out of it, absolute dead silence. This should not be that difficult to setup and use. The guide is really not of any help, it gives zero troubleshooting tips and there is no real setup guide. At this point I would like to ship this unit back to France and request a replacement. I realize that there will always be a certain percentage of boards that are what we call BB (Bad Boards). I don't want to waste anymore time, I've probably spent 15 hrs. trying to get it to work. Is each Anyma Phi tested before they are shipped? I have connected the Akai MPK mini to the USB host. I have tried midi. I have plugged every possible cable into just about every possible plug and I haven't gotten not a single sound. Is the Akai not compatible with the Anyma Phi? What is the simplest way to confirm the Anyma Phi is working? Is there some way to get it to produce a sound? At this point it feels like I am just pounding my head against something that could be a brick.

RE: Is it possible to connect the Anyma Phi straight to a DAW like GarageBand?
@Maxence I connected up the Mackie board, M-Audio Duo, Akea keyboard and Anyma Phi. Unfortunately I didn't have total success but I was able to visually see the wave form on the Anyma Phi display which I got excited about. I just ordered a 1/4" audio connector, along with audio and midi cables, stuff I will probably need anyways for other projects. The fact that I didn't have the 1/4" headset adapter makes it that much harder to troubleshoot and monitor the audio.

RE: Trying to Update the Anyma Phi. Not able to connect the Anyma Phi to my Macbook Pro laptop, suggestions?
@support_aodyo Oh that would be super cool. Oh don't worry I'm a patient guy, as you get to my age (50+) you tend to just take things in stride. I'm a Kickstarter Super Backer and I love helping projects like this, Aodyo is a huge success. I also just got your Sylphyo + Link and last night was playing some amazing things, totally beats a keyboard when it comes to just playing with your heart and soul. I know I'm getting close to figuring out the Anyma Phi setup. If/when I do I will reply back with what I did.
-
RE: Is it possible to connect the Anyma Phi straight to a DAW like GarageBand?
@support_aodyo thank you Maxence for the reply and yes I understand what you're saying, however I just don't know where to go from here? I've tried plugging the Anyma Phi and the Akea keyboard in every possible way. Meaning the Mini-USB (marked USB Device) to my laptop and plugging the keyboard to the USB Host on the Anyma Phi. I only have two USB ports on my laptop. I also have an older Mackie board (1202-VLZ3) along with an M-Audio M-Track Duo. Perhaps there's another way just to get the audio into GarageBand going that route. My hope was making it possible to control Anyma Phi from Garage Band. Sorry I'm still a bit of a newbie and only been getting into digital music over the past 9 months. I suspect there might be a few others like me trying to do the same sort of thing. It would be really sweet if I could see someone else setting up their Anyma Phi to Garage Band.

Is it possible to connect the Anyma Phi straight to a DAW like GarageBand?
After skimming the instructions within the manual I am getting the impression that maybe the Anyma Phi wasn't designed to do this. Apparently the idea is to connect to your keyboard and then hear the output via the audio out either by headphones or to speakers. Instead I would like to channel the audio to my DAW, in this case being GarageBand....yeah I know I haven't taken the jump to Ableton yet...well the good news is that I have had far more success with the Sylphyo...loving that instrument. It would be sweet if there were just an Anyma Phi plugin. It does mention DAW twice in the manual with regards to: USB device port (USB Mini-B)
Connect your Anyma Phi to a computer to update its internal software, to edit sounds with the PC/Mac editor, or to control it from a DAW. So apparently it is designed to do this...hmmm..I know it identifies 3 midi devices (via the mini USB devices cable)...maybe I not setting up the USB Host correctly where I have my mini Akai MPK connected to the Anyma Phi? Seems like I am hearing people say you have to configure the midi ports? -
RE: Trying to Update the Anyma Phi. Not able to connect the Anyma Phi to my Macbook Pro laptop, suggestions?
@bibenu thanks, yeah it took me a little while to figure it out. Now I am unto my next challenge which is how to connect it to Garage Band and my Akai MPK mini. Unfortunately I'm not finding the manual to be all that helpful. It ought be in sequential order but instead it all about the product features. I don't think this went through UAT (User Acceptance Testing). I would love to see some very simple videos that walk you through getting this setup. It really shouldn't be this difficult....then again after you turn 50 things just take longer to figure out.

RE: Trying to Update the Anyma Phi. Not able to connect the Anyma Phi to my Macbook Pro laptop, suggestions?
Nevermind, I just figured it out. There is a Shift key on the Anyma Phi itself....once I figured that out then I got back on track.

Trying to Update the Anyma Phi. Not able to connect the Anyma Phi to my Macbook Pro laptop, suggestions?
I'm stuck literally at step #2 of the instructions
- Power on your Anyma Phi while holding the Shift button. The display should read
ANYMA PHI UPDATER
.
I don't see the display saying 'Anyma Phi Updater". I am running Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013). Are we talking the shift button on the MAC or might there be a shift button on the Anyma Phi? I am under the impression that the Anyma Phi ought to show up on the Desktop screen as sort of external drive so I can drop the anymaphi-v0.8.90.ayo file to it. At this point I am a bit frustrated and disappointed. I want to have fun like the rest of you all are having.

RE: Anyma Phi editor software
@origami23 I too am in the same boat as Mickglassop. I prefer to spend my money on digital musical equipment as opposed to buying brand new MAC laptops. I am running Catalina 10.15.7 on a 13" Macbook Pro if that gives you any idea how cheap I might be. Sure someday I will have to upgrade but was hoping that would happen around the time the computer dies on me.

RE: Anyma Manual
They released this link I believe on June 8th, https://downloads.aodyo.com/anymaphi/early-adopter It's about 160 pages. I am just about to start reading it for the first time.
