@ErikOnSax You seem to want moving mechanical keys like a Yamaha WX5? Is that correct?
Are you asking for a saxophone-type Sylphyo or flute-type Sylphyo?
You mention the Omega. Does this new design of Sylphyo need to be polyphonic?

RE: More Internal Sounds needed here!
I found some news about a new, physically modelled, Trumpet sound for the Sylphyo (and Anyma) in the updates about the Anyma Omega on Indiegogo. Posted on April 18th. "Meanwhile, we would like to share with you a demo of our new Trumpet oscillator, designed from our Brass physical model, that will soon be available on both Sylphyo and Anyma:".
https://soundcloud.com/aodyo/trumpet-sectionSadly, the same update said that the Anyma Omega would be delayed by 3 months as Aodyo can no longer get the screen part and have to use an alternative part which means modifying the electronic and mechanical design of the Omega.

RE: More Internal Sounds needed here!
@Peter-Ostry In the WX5 manual, Yamaha refer to it as "Pitch Bend Wheel" rather that "Rocker". They say, "Thumb-controlled pitch-bend wheel allows convenient pitch bend control when either the reed (saxophone type) or recorder type mouthpiece is used.". Though from the way that you describe it as "Rocker", I guess that the action is more like a spring-loaded, bi-directional rocker switch?

RE: Under the Blue Ring
@Peter-Ostry It looks like Imoxplus have already designed an adapter for the Sylphyo, for a later version of the Photon prototype. Version 2 (or maybe 3 or later?).
Pedro Eustache shows the Photon v2 on his Sylphyo in the YouTube video, linked below.

@Gromit Ah, well, interesting. I would really like a bite controller :)
Maybe one day, Rudy at Imoxplus and the rest of the Photon team will be able to get the Photon manufactured. They still cannot source any PSOC microprocessors from Cypress.
According to Rudy,
"The Photon offers you CC's for- Breath out (blow)
- Breath in (suck)
- Tongue position (moving your tongue inwards or outwards)
- Lower Lip tension (pitch bend control with lower lip)
- Upper Lip position (shifting your mouth further or deeper on the mouthpiece)
- Vocal amplitude (making a vocal sound while blowing)
- Each sensor can be configured individually with curves, midi channel, smoothing etc...
- Up to 32 mouthpiece configurations (presets) can be stored in the photon and recalled using program changes
- Hires midi output can be activated for each sensor individually
- Adjustable breath flow (resistance)
- etc.".
The Photon would attach to a Sylphyo in place of the Sylphyo's mouthpiece.
Air blown into the Photon mouthpiece by the musician does not pass through the Sylphyo. It exits straight back out of the Photon again. The Sylphyo just detects the notes that are being played. The Photon's MIDI data and the Sylphyo's MIDI data (the notes fingered (and motion control?)) are merged to drive apps such as Respiro from Imoxplus or SWAM. External MIDI synths too, I believe. -
RE: Under the Blue Ring
As is clear from Clint's pictures of his Sylphyo, the connector for the active mouthpiece is not actually fitted in the production Sylphyos but the moulding is there for it.
-
RE: Under the Blue Ring
@wwoodard8 Aodyo were working on their own design of active mouthpiece back at the time of the original Indiegogo fund-raising campaign.
It would appear that sadly, insufficient funds were raised to provide for the active mouthpiece to be made available as an option. Here is a note from the Indiegogo campaign updates, from Jun 19, 2015.
"Following some feedback from last Musikmesse, and some request during this campaign, we decided to provide one new expansion port in the Sylphyo to allow future alternate active mouthpieces. Here are the first preliminary preview about how it should work (here with a preliminary sax/clarinette type mouthpiece) to allow extra control on sound from reed pressure:".
It would appear that in the production version of the Sylphyo, a decision was taken to shift the active mouthpiece's connector to the rear, display side? -
RE: Warming up with the Sylphyo
I wonder if Sylphyo sound #10 - Electro Fuse, might come close?
In the Sylphyo User Guide, Electro Fuse is described as, "A sound for guitar heroes, overdriven to the extreme, with plenty of feedback that you can accurately control just by moving your instrument around.".Here is Aodyo's YouTube official video demonstrating the Electro Fuse sound.

RE: Sylphyo to enter scores with the MuseScore application ?
@Jean-Louis In your original post, you asked the question, "All this without having to use the LINK box?".
Yes, you could connect the Sylphyo direct to your computer using a USB cable. -
RE: Sylphyo to enter scores with the MuseScore application ?
This may not be of great help.
Below is a link to a YouTube video from the very helpful Alistair Parnell, setting up a rival scoring program, Sibelius, to accept input from a wind controller from another company.
Maybe some of the settings would be similar to the ones needed in MuseScore with the Sylphyo?

@Peter-Ostry thank you for such an informative and helpful reply.
Despite your worries about Aodyo beating you for it, your perspective has actually made me want the Sylphyo and Anyma Phi even more.
To begin with, while I mostly play clarinet, I've dabbled with recorder and ocarina too, and enjoy these lighter airflows (and if it can be put in competition with electric guitar levels, even better!). It's the natural connection between the breath and the instrument that I'm looking for, which it sounds like Sylphyo has in abundance.
Also, thanks for checking out my YouTube channel. I'm actually looking to have two sides to my output, the "natural" interface of the acoustic clarinet through pedals and the "digital" via wind controller. So the synthetic quality of the Anyma Phi isn't a problem, but a advantage.
Just to clarify a couple of things: You mention the Sylphyo having both sideways roll and compass (sideways angle) - these are two different things? Also, you mention the Sylphyo sounds being the "smaller", medium synthetic versions of sounds that Anyma Phi does better. Does this mean that the same preset sounds are in both devices, at different resolution levels, or am I misunderstanding?
I've been looking into some of the other sound sources you mention, and am noticing that the Anyma Phi seems to straddle the line between a digital pedal and synth software. Would agree with this observation? This might be exactly what I need.
Also, I will be taking your advice and getting the link too. My thanks again.
@TheSongSystem
Roll control is rotating or rolling the Sylphyo, clockwise or anticlockwise in your hands, compass control is turning to face in a different direction.
The second part of this Aodyo video shows the player rolling the Sylphyo.
Please read section "2.6 Elevation, roll and compass control" in the Sylphyo user guide for an explanation of the differences between roll and compass control.
I would also recommend that you look at the rest of section "2 Playing the Sylphyo" which is also very helpful. -
RE: Link & sounds
@ebo You're welcome.
My Link shows up in the MIDI Studio window of the Audio MIDI Setup app, on my Mac as "Sylphyo Link" when the Link is plugged in to my Mac via the Link's "USB power supply" mini USB socket and switched on. Have you tried using the same USB to mini USB cable which successfully updated your Sylphyo? If you are still getting nowhere then contact Aodyo support via email. They'll probably want the Link's serial number off the sticker on it's base. -
RE: ((?)) beside battery indicator
@shannon Yes, an all white battery symbol means fully charged.
-
RE: ((?)) beside battery indicator
Did you buy the wireless Link receiver with the Sylphyo?
If your Sylphyo doesn’t find your Link, it will display the ((?)) icon. -
RE: Link and PC
@fanch35
Thank you.
You'll have to ask other folks about your PC with Windows 10. I don't own that type of computer so I cannot help. -
RE: Link and PC
@fanch35
In Phase 3, to get Respiro's sound out of the Link's "Phones" socket, connect an audio lead from the PC's audio out socket to the Link's "Line In" socket.Regarding, "Clint' reference : why don't I get sounds from "A@L" out with signals S' ?". This connection is MIDI data only (and power over USB). No audio over USB.
-
RE: Link and PC
@fanch35
In Phase1, there should be no sound coming out of the Link's "Phones" socket when "Silent (MIDI Ctrl)" is selected as the sound on the Sylphyo. The "Silent (MIDI Ctrl)" sound was part of Sylphyo Firmware update 1.4.8
As you probably know, the Link has its own synthesiser "sound engine" chip. The wireless link between the Sylphyo and the Link is for data only. No analogue audio sound is sent from the Sylphyo to the Link. When the sound is changed at the Sylphyo, a program change, data message is sent wirelessly over to the Link where the Link's synth chip gets set to the same sound as on the Sylphyo. The volume of the sound output from the Link's synth chip matches the volume set at the Sylphyo.
Both the Sylphyo and the Link need to be running Sylphyo Firmware update 1.4.8. Your Link may be running an earlier firmware version? Hence this is why you hear a sound from the Link's "Phones" socket rather than silence.
The Sylphyo Firmware update 1.4.8 also contained two other new sounds in addition to Silent (MIDI Ctrl), Synthbrass 80's and Resozen.
I suggest that you select either Synthbrass 80's or Resozen on the Sylphyo and check whether you hear these particular sounds coming out from the Link's "Phones" socket? If not, then you'll need to update the firmware in the Link to Sylphyo Firmware update 1.4.8. Available at this link on Aodyo's web site.On my own Sylphyo and Link, which I know are running Sylphyo Firmware update 1.4.8, I hear no sound in my headphones connected to the Link's "Phones" socket when I have the Silent (MIDI Ctrl) sound selected on my Sylphyo.

RE: How about a Sylphyo update now?
@join Perhaps Aodyo might help the folks creating the Photon mouthpiece project?
Could the Sylphyo's firmware be amended so that the the Photon could be connected into the Sylphyo's mini-USB socket?
Maybe the Photon's MIDI data stream could be merged into the Sylphyo's MIDI wireless data stream flowing over to the Sylphyo Link box?
USB power out of the Sylphyo's mini-USB to power the Photon would be good too?
Here's a YouTube video of an early prototype Photon mouthpiece being used with a Sylphyo. The sound is coming from the Respiro software synth.

@jdickerson
That sounds excessive. I just took delivery of a flute from the UK and got a duty bill for $53 total on a $1400 invoice. The UK is no longer a part of the EU so therefore cannot be used in any comparison of import duty costs of goods arriving into the USA from an EU country such as France. A separate trade agreement is in place between the UK and the USA nowadays.
In addition electronic equipment may be charged at a different rate than a purely acoustic instrument like a flute. -

The linked mouthpiece swab won't work. You need more fabric, longer cords, and a weight at one end.I use Oboe swabs and they work well.
So from the BG France Oboe Swabs range maybe the A36B swab would be good for the Sylphyo?

Cleaning Swab for Sylphyo
The Sylphyo Maintenance accessories pack seems to be currently, out of stock.
I would like to get a swab to clean inside my Sylphyo.
Is the Sylphyo swab made by BG France based upon the A31T4? If not, which version of the A31 BG France swab do Aodyo recommend? -
RE: How to connect Sylphyo LINK audio out to a Mac without audio input?
BTW MacOS Big Sur didn't need a driver for the Behringer Line 2 USB but Windows 10 users will need to install the ASIO4ALL driver software (linked from the Behringer product page too).
-
RE: How to connect Sylphyo LINK audio out to a Mac without audio input?
Here's my review of the Behringer Line 2 USB.
Sound quality is excellent. Background noise is very low. Nice and quiet.
I have my Sylphyo set to the default sound volume (80%) so I guess that the synth engine in the Link is also at 80%? There is plenty of audio level.
The Mac mini M1 sees the Behringer as "USB PnP Audio Device". To ensure that I do not get clipping, the input level is at 25%. The volume in my Focal XS 2.1 speaker system is similar to the output from the Respiro software synth.
I am using Apple GarageBand. The Behringer is set as a stereo line input ("Monitoring" set to "on"). I'm not noticing any latency.
When I took an output from the Link's headphone socket directly into the Focal XS 2.1 speaker system's audio input, I was picking up some audio hum (not loud but annoying) so the quiet background of the Behringer solution via the Link's audio outputs and the Mac, is much better. With the input into GarageBand, I can also record and review my practicing. Which is a helpful bonus.
Overall, I'm very impressed as were some folks on Sweetwater.
The Behringer Line 2 USB does exactly what I want. -
RE: How to connect Sylphyo LINK audio out to a Mac without audio input?
Thank you for the information, Maxence and Clint.
I bought the cable yesterday. I should receive it today.
I figured that it was worth giving it a try as it was relatively inexpensive at £17.99 (€21, $25 USD) including carriage.
I do not have two mono ¼" (6.35mm) jack cables to hand, to connect between the Sylphyo Link's Line Out sockets and another USB audio interface/mixer so the all-in-one nature of the Behringer Line 2 USB appealed to me.
I will post again when I have tried the interface cable to give my impressions on it and whether it works with the Sylphyo Link and an Apple Mac mini M1. -
How to connect Sylphyo LINK audio out to a Mac without audio input?
I want to connect the audio output of my Sylphyo LINK to my Apple M1 Mac mini so I can hear the sounds from the internal synth via my Focal XS computer speaker system. The M1 Mac mini has no audio input jack.
The Sylphyo LINK is powered from the Mac via the mini USB power supply port. The same cable allows me to control the excellent, Respiro soft synth with the Sylphyo but I would like to be able to hear the Sylphyo LINK's internal synth sound universes too.
I have found the Behringer Line 2 USB Stereo 1/4" Line In to USB Interface Cable. Would this allow me to hear the Sylphyo LINK's sound universes with my computer speaker system?
I would connect the USB A plug of the Behringer Line 2 USB into my Mac and the left and right mono ¼" (6.35mm) jack plugs into the LINK's Line Out sockets.
I have Garage Band and also Apple MainStage.
Any other audio input solution suggestions for the M1 Mac mini would be welcome too?
