RE: vibratto again sorry
thanks for acknowledging that you have seen my long standing post and that you are confirming that you do not intend to do anything about it again
in 2018 february you said "we'll update the Celtic fingering to include finger vibrato."
I am once again disappointed that I cannot seem to get you to understand this is a real plus to your instrument, and instead you continue to focus on star wars sounds.
great shame but at least your saying up front that you cant be bothered

RE: Looking for a pro-musician who wants to make a video on my Respiro Wind-Synth plug-in.
I think respiro is awesome, great sounds very responsive
-
RE: vibratto again sorry
perhaps shall be ignored again, but worth bumping..
-
RE: vibratto again sorry
bumping this thread as getting lost and quite old.
I can see you have had a look at the way warbl does vibratto an dits code
can this please be on the list

reverb new sounds
any way to lessen the reverb on the new sounds, they are too much

disapointed
I hate to grumble but I am disappointed, as an early purchaser of my sylpho I have had it some time, and recently purchased the updates with sync and new sounds.
For me I used it as a midi controller as primary use firing other synth sounds and module, so the new sounds are fun but nothing compared to what you can do with other sound modules. Its very star wars.
But now since the upgrade the loss of being able to plug it straight into and ipad without having to find additional power solutions has almost stopped me using this.
The latency using the sync module as well is appalling, this is with the vl70m and a high end pc, it just make is no fun to play, its just too high. I was using it in a gig last night and just had to stop, it was like fighting a tiger. using a direct usb cable out doesn't always work as it seems its not truly class compliant and again draws too much power.
you promised you would work out a firmware where you can start it without onboard sounds and use less power and then be able to plug and play. where is this??
The older version was far better for me sorry, and I guess many uses who would prefer to use exterior sound modules, tim brown please dont reply

RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
the latest beta update now breaks the possibility of uisng the puc+ or using the usb out cable to midi host :(
great shame
-
RE: latency again
its difficult to capture on video do you know any latency measuring software?
-
RE: How to hook up MainStage and Thor
@sparky go to thor, preferences and set midi in as sylpho link, not all
-
RE: latency again
when using usb to puc+ via direct midi no real latency problem.
when using usb to midimachines usb host controller to vl70m no real latency.
so its the sync unit and midi out that I am finding the latency issues.
-
RE: latency again
no, they seem near identical, tested using one earplug to sylpho out and one headphone to link out.
velocity set to 127
-
RE: latency again
yes buffer size is minimum, I am using win 10 64bit i7 8800 chip 16gb fast ddr4 ram, on ssd.
its a mother of a machine, with a scarlet 6 i6 buffersize is down to 64, the lowest you can get.
what I am noticing is using the new sync unit add latency, I am also sending via the new sync out to a vl70m.
both when using your new wireless sync are having a fair amount of latency, very noticeable.
If I use a puc+ with a usb cable the latency is much much lower.
so latecy I think is coming from the new sync unit. not my setup./ the old panda had less latency.
to demonstrate this I have a mixer with vl70, reason, and straight out form the internal sounds,
internal sounds is super fast, but then the vl70 and computer are showing lots of latency.
I am a producer, filmmaker and professional musician, and have been working and programming in midi for over 20 years.. I do not think my kit is the issue,

RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
@randybrown I think your wrong sorry, to get the new sylpho to work with any ios device, you now need an extra ios usb3 camera connector kit plu a portable battery or ios cable and power plug, the previous version you could just use the panda connector which worked well.
using the puc is one thing and the latency is better than the new sync unit.
-
RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
I found another way of doing this looking at old kit that works without carrying loads of extra power leads ipad conectors,
I am using the puc+
which sends midi via bluetooth, latency is good as well, powered by batteries. most modern synth apps support bluetooth connections
-
latency again
what setting can be tweaked to try to improve latency, I am noticing enough latency using the sync and less so via usb when using when sending out via midi out on the sync, also via usb to computer.
can anything be done to improve this?
-
RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
thanks I look forward to this update.
-
RE: sylphyo to yamaha vl70m
on both the panda old wireless connecter and the new sync, they both have 5pin midi outs sockets.
connect your midi cable to this and then on the back of the vl70 connect it to the midi in.
your vl70m shoudl work fine, unless you have changed settings.
sound mode should be set to voice and breath mode set to bc/wx
-
RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
thanks for keeping trying as I really do feel to be able to connect to iphone and ipad without having to be near a mains supply and add extra conectors to make it work is really reall important.
the new sounds are fun and the potential of others are exciting, but the loss of the simplicity of just plugging and play with iphone and ipad is a real minus point for me.,
I dont want to carry addtional power supplies and cables.
hopefully your next firmware might help this.
keep up the good work
-
RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
another idea is an ios switch, that turns off internal sounds and send only midi data, which would reduce power.
I have now tried two CCk usb 3 kits and I cannot use the sylpho with an ipad air 3gen and a iphone 7, both latest ios.
still waiting on firmware
-
RE: vibratto again sorry
@konan michael elskin has produce two new apps that worked well with the sylpho.
epipes and ulieen piper.
-
RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
sent my email and os to try the latest firmware to see if helps
one thought that might reduce power is the default volume is high in headphones.
-
RE: Unable to use iPad with latest version
happily try the new firmware as I am still unable to use the new version with an ipad or iphone using the CCK and standard cables.
-
RE: midi out huge delay/ latency with new sync unit
I had all those settings, but did a factory reset which seems to have solved the latency
I am wondering if setting additional breath parameters adds latency.
adding aftertouch and bc2?
-
Unable to use iPad with latest version
The new updated version cannot connect to iPad or iPhone any more as it needs too much power, I have tried via the sync box to device and via usb cable, also with a camera connection kit that provides external power, all fail with the new updated version..
That is really is not good.
-
midi out huge delay/ latency with new sync unit
thanks new upgrade arrived today, has lots of potential, very few sounds to start but all work well
I am noticing though that midi out has now much worse delay/ latency than the panda receiver.
especially with breath control output, using the new sync its all fine, but using the sync to midi out to vl 70m I am getting huge delay? very hard to use.
I hav elooked at breath settings but all seem fine, and what is puzzling it works fine via headphones and your sounds but not via midi out.
same cables unit etc as when I was using the panda

RE: Sylphyo as tinwhistle
@join please the long awaited realistic vibratto in celtic fingering using different finger positions, I can provide charts and fingerings again, for now I have stopped using the sylpho and use my own hand made controller :(
-
RE: vibratto again sorry
@join send me the files and i will program for you
@konan from skikda i hope ? most excellent band
thumbjam has a free UP sample which is ok
unfortunately Bagpipe lab app does not support breath control but have done nice samples
including my new pibau samplekontact has some good samples but need allot of programming
-
vibratto again sorry
I use the celtic fingering, and what I miss is using fingered vibratto, shake vibrato is just not the same..
I have sent detailed fingering charts to you guys for what is an accurate Celtic vibratto, and really hope you can programme this at some point, but a simple way would be to use and add the right hand little finger, to most of the note positions with a fixed vibrato pitch bend, a few of the mid bagpipes use this in addition to finger positions and it works very well

Non tempered Scale
Something to think on, be great to also include a just scale or non tempered scale.??

RE: Favourite iPad apps for playing with Sylphyo ?
Matt Traum has created a set of patches for the thor app
same guy who created the turbo chip for vl70m.
very pricey, and I am not associated with him but they will be good.http://www.patchmanmusic.com/PropellerheadThor.html

RE: plugs
have sent to you perhaps you can share.
the only downside is tounging for fast notes have to be done with not sealing the mouthpiece and kind of blowing into it rather than having your mouth around it.
-
RE: pitch and elavation with vl70m
managed to work with this
basically for each patch on the vl70m go to control-edit, then select the paramater, then grw cc no set to 75 or 76 then the next is value set to 127..then store in the user patch sectionexperimenting with which is best, will call back
-
RE: realistic vibratto and extended celtic fingering
also the octave leading note 0oxxOxxxO also would need to be included.
really enjoying experimenting, but miss that fingered vibratto which you get from pipes, oboes whistles ect.
-
RE: pitch and elavation with vl70m
Thanks I saw that but I am not sure which cc to programme the elavation and roll, for which parameter, looked online but can't find anything specific..
Is it global or patch specific
Thanks again

RE: global note hold
can you change the angle of the elevation from 45 degress
or even reverse it so notes is on until you go to 45 degrees?
reasoning is its toug holding it up above 45 degress for some time?
-
RE: plugs
I made a wooden one which of course got wet, so got some 6mm round power cable used for lights etc here in the uk, cut a 25mm length and then removed the two inner cables.
makeshift waterproof plug
works a treat cuts the airflow by half.

pitch and elavation with vl70m
Has anybody had any experiance setting pitch and elavation to work with a vl70mm, I cant find a list of vl70m reverb etc mappings
or map elevation to growl?
roll to pitch
