I think I have solved the problem by changing the thumb size in the slider settings.
Nevertheless, although I have read the operations manual, I don't understand exactly how the slider works in pitch bend. The thumb always have to go downward? In both parts of the slider? Or it works also upward? What are the options and how to use it?... Thanks

Problems with pith bend in the slider
It is about using the pith bend in the slider. When I do that, suddenly the Sylphyo works half a tone upper: I play C, and it sounds #C, and the same with all the notes (without using the slider). If I try moving up an down my thumb, suddenly it goes back to the right pith. But I could not say exactly how I have done it. And, anyway, when I try to use again the pith bend, the problem happens again.

Ethnic Vst Instruments library for Sylphyo
I would like to buy an ethnic sounds library: a VST instrument collection for windows (I am particulary interested in asiatic instruments: sitar, indian Tabla, sakuachi, koto) Samples and perhaps loops too. I wonder if you know which one works OK with Sylphyo. Because some vst instruments do not work properly with wind controllers. Thank You.

RE: Characteristics of Sylphyo as stand alone instrument (Internal sound card)
Ok. I agree. A battery-powered USB charger is a good solution. Than you for your quick answer.

RE: Characteristics of Sylphyo as stand alone instrument (Internal sound card)
I see the receiver device will be powered by usb. I wonder if, besides, it would be a good idea if it is powered also by standar alkaline batteries (or rechargeable ) like the guitar pedals. It would be usefull in some circumstances. And perhaps it would avoid some interference. What do you think? Thank you.

RE: Characteristics of Sylphyo as stand alone instrument (Internal sound card)
I would like to know if there are good news. I am looking forward to using the new internal sound card, synth. And I think Sylphyo will become à popular instrument when it will be able to be played as à stand alone instrument. I really love Sylphyo, but I hate to always depend on the computer. Thanks.

RE: Un moyen de fixer le sylphyo autour du coup ? A way to hang the sylphyo like a saxophone ?
You could do it putting a string under the thumb support. You would have to unscrew it a little (I think it is not dangerous because this screw probably does not open the Sylphyo. I think It is only for the thumb support). Then you put the string under the
thumb support, and you screw it again. Then you fix the sax belt to the string. It should work. -

@doul Thank you very much for your quick answer.

Can I adjust the volume in the Sylphyo, in an easy and fast way?
Sometimes, while playing, I need to adjust the volume. But I find uncomfortable to do it going to the computer. Is there any way to do it in the Sylphyo, in an quick an easy way? (In an electric guitar or in a keyboard we have a bottom for this). Perhaps a quick setting in the screen...

@zenasium Thank you very much, Zenasium. And have a lot of fun with Sylphyo and Ewi.

RE: Why I prefer Sylphyo to Ewi Akai
@zenasium Thank you very much zenasium for your ideas. I agree with you: Akai and Sylphyo are different instruments. I agree with you also with the importance of the WiFi system.
I guess each musician will prefer one or the other instrument depending on their needs and the way the feel the music.
Having both is also great.
I understand that what is important for me, perhaps it is not for others. Why the weight and the expressivity are important for me?:
Weight: I am a Physiotherapist, specialized in musician injuries. And in my long career, I have seen many many wind musician with serious injurys (tendinitis d'quervain in the thumb, for example). And I can tell you that a little difference in the weight of the instrument can take you to the injury.
Expressivity: I come from classical music. So, expressivity is very important for me. Before buying my Shylphyo a was testing the Akai. And, even after doing all the blow adjustment, I felt that I had to blow hard: much harder than in a recorder. So I found impossible to do pianissimo-piano- mezzoforte and so one. I understand this is not important for some musicians or for some kind of music. But for me, is fundamental.
Any way I think both are great instruments. -
RE: Cleaning inside
@join can I wash the inside of the mouthpiece? For example with a waterjet. Thank you.

Characteristics of Sylphyo as stand alone instrument (Internal sound card)
I would like to know when will be ready the card sound for the sylphyo, in order to be able to play as a stand alone instrument.
Also, I wonder how it will be. Will it be inside the flute, or inside the wifi device?
Will I need to use the computer, or it will not be necesary? I mean, where will be connected the wifi device to? (for power supply an for sound output). Of course, I would love to get free of the computer. It will be much more confortable in many situations.
The advantage of setting the card inside the wifi device is that, this way, you will not add weight to the flute. And besides, we will not have to send the sylphyo to your technical service. Indeed, perhaps it will be cheaper and esier to buy a new wifi device with the new card inside, than sending our device in order you tu install the new card. -
RE: Melódica fingering
@join Well, I am no sure. One option, as you has said, is to chose only one escale each time (c mayor, a minor, g mayor and so on). The other idea would be to use the 8 keys, each one for 1 note. And the 3 position of the the octava key for 3 other notes. And the slider for another note. This way we have the 12 notes!
-
Melódica fingering
Could you include the Melodica (Hohner ) fingering? That is: only one finger to get each note. Each sensor would be a note. The great advantage is that you could make chords! It would be great.

RE: Buying a Sylphyo
I have bought it in Thomann. Everything has gone all right. It is true that I would have liked to be able to test it first. Anyway, I am very very happy with Sylphyo.

RE: How will be the quality of the sounds provided with the new internal card?
After testing the EWI 5000 more carefully, now I have to agree that it is not possible to get a credible sound emulating real instruments. The stand alone instruments don't have enought power. For that it's necessary to use a computer and a good VST instrument. So I agree that the best idea for Sylphyo, as a stand alone instrument, is to develope interesting new
sounds. I would like to have very expresive and precise sounds in order to be able to play jazz and classical music. Why not playing classical scores with new sounds?
And for real instrument, I have bought Sample Modeling Flute: with Sylphyo is incredible! Now I play as I never could dream! -
The perfect fingering for Sylphyo
I wonder if you have already set the "Sylphyo fingering": the most efficient fingering for this new instrument. Perhaps based in a mix between sax and flute (since it was quite perfectioned by Bohem, the modern flute creator). Trying to avoid dificult note changes. And allowing to do all the trills.

RE: (Transverse) Flute fingering
A correction: instead the emoticon (I wonder how it has appeared) I wanted to write "B".
-
(Transverse) Flute fingering
I am using the flute fingering. It is quite similar to transverse flute fingering, so I like it. And I very much like the idea of playing a higher octava just removing the left index. Nevertheless, there are a couple of things that I miss:
- To be able to play F sharp with both fingers (ring and middle finger) in all the octaves.
- When I play in a higher octava, (using the sistem of removing the index) I would like to be able to do it with all the notes, the A included (except B. I understand it would be impossible since I have to use the index for B). In fact I don't understand why A is not included (perhaps because It would be the same position tha C in the real transverse flute? If that is the case, it doesn't matter, since you have not included this C position: if I try, sound the precedent note ).
It's a little complicated. I hope I have explained clear enough.
Thank you very much and congratulations for Sylphyo. I am really happy with it.

RE: Dois-je choisir le Sylphyo ?
@Laurent_AODYO
(J'habite a Madrid). Merci beaucoup. Et j'espère que on comprend le message:smiley: C'est difficile a écrire le Français:blush: -
RE: How will be the quality of the sounds provided with the new internal card?
@join Thank you very much for answering so quickly. With Sylphyo, We, musicians of all levels, will be able to play in a way we never could dream. Congratulations and thanks.

How will be the quality of the sounds provided with the new internal card?
I love Sylphyo. I play traversal flute and recorder (flute a bec). I think with Sylphyo I will be able to express my feelings, whitout the limitations of the Clásical instruments: dificults to achieve the more higher notes. Dificults to play pianísimos and fortíssimo. Dificults to play in tune.
Nevertheless, I am afraid of the quality of the sounds that will be provided with the internal card that you are about to include inside the Sylphyo. In Akai EWI 5000 the quality of the sounds is good. But in Aerophon A10 Roland the sounds are really disappointing. So, mi question is: will I have a realistic, credible flute sound in Sylphyo, with the new internal card?
Thank you very much, et felicitation pour votre incredible flute! J'adore. -
Why I prefer Sylphyo to Ewi Akai
- In EWI Akai you have the feeling that you play always mezzo forte.
Imposible to transmit your art. Nice sound, but no pianissimo, no fortíssimo. - In EWI Akai you have to blow hard. It is tiring and dificults the expression.
- Akai EWI is quiet heavy (900 grs).
- In EWI Akai you have the feeling that you play always mezzo forte.
