Dual synth Engines

From the manual ( or the website) I understand that The Sylphyo and the link receiver both have a synth engine.
Do the operate together?

Or solo : No link the Sylphyo engine: with Link receiver , only the engine in the Link receiver

Can one access them with an external controller ?
A controller which generates midi data , like Keith mcmillens Softstep ?

I will not mind if you refer to a manpage

Or answer in French or Swahili ;)
