After testing the EWI 5000 more carefully, now I have to agree that it is not possible to get a credible sound emulating real instruments. The stand alone instruments don't have enought power. For that it's necessary to use a computer and a good VST instrument. So I agree that the best idea for Sylphyo, as a stand alone instrument, is to develope interesting new
sounds. I would like to have very expresive and precise sounds in order to be able to play jazz and classical music. Why not playing classical scores with new sounds?
And for real instrument, I have bought Sample Modeling Flute: with Sylphyo is incredible! Now I play as I never could dream!

Why I prefer Sylphyo to Ewi Akai
- In EWI Akai you have the feeling that you play always mezzo forte.
Imposible to transmit your art. Nice sound, but no pianissimo, no fortíssimo. - In EWI Akai you have to blow hard. It is tiring and dificults the expression.
- Akai EWI is quiet heavy (900 grs).
- In EWI Akai you have the feeling that you play always mezzo forte.

RE: Buying a Sylphyo
I have bought it in Thomann. Everything has gone all right. It is true that I would have liked to be able to test it first. Anyway, I am very very happy with Sylphyo.

RE: Problems with pith bend in the slider
I think I have solved the problem by changing the thumb size in the slider settings.
Nevertheless, although I have read the operations manual, I don't understand exactly how the slider works in pitch bend. The thumb always have to go downward? In both parts of the slider? Or it works also upward? What are the options and how to use it?... Thanks -
Problems with pith bend in the slider
It is about using the pith bend in the slider. When I do that, suddenly the Sylphyo works half a tone upper: I play C, and it sounds #C, and the same with all the notes (without using the slider). If I try moving up an down my thumb, suddenly it goes back to the right pith. But I could not say exactly how I have done it. And, anyway, when I try to use again the pith bend, the problem happens again.

Ethnic Vst Instruments library for Sylphyo
I would like to buy an ethnic sounds library: a VST instrument collection for windows (I am particulary interested in asiatic instruments: sitar, indian Tabla, sakuachi, koto) Samples and perhaps loops too. I wonder if you know which one works OK with Sylphyo. Because some vst instruments do not work properly with wind controllers. Thank You.

RE: Characteristics of Sylphyo as stand alone instrument (Internal sound card)
Ok. I agree. A battery-powered USB charger is a good solution. Than you for your quick answer.

RE: Characteristics of Sylphyo as stand alone instrument (Internal sound card)
I see the receiver device will be powered by usb. I wonder if, besides, it would be a good idea if it is powered also by standar alkaline batteries (or rechargeable ) like the guitar pedals. It would be usefull in some circumstances. And perhaps it would avoid some interference. What do you think? Thank you.

RE: Characteristics of Sylphyo as stand alone instrument (Internal sound card)
I would like to know if there are good news. I am looking forward to using the new internal sound card, synth. And I think Sylphyo will become à popular instrument when it will be able to be played as à stand alone instrument. I really love Sylphyo, but I hate to always depend on the computer. Thanks.

RE: Un moyen de fixer le sylphyo autour du coup ? A way to hang the sylphyo like a saxophone ?
You could do it putting a string under the thumb support. You would have to unscrew it a little (I think it is not dangerous because this screw probably does not open the Sylphyo. I think It is only for the thumb support). Then you put the string under the
thumb support, and you screw it again. Then you fix the sax belt to the string. It should work. -

Can I adjust the volume in the Sylphyo, in an easy and fast way?
Sometimes, while playing, I need to adjust the volume. But I find uncomfortable to do it going to the computer. Is there any way to do it in the Sylphyo, in an quick an easy way? (In an electric guitar or in a keyboard we have a bottom for this). Perhaps a quick setting in the screen...
