My Sylphyo does not send anything when switched on. Not a single event. Not via the link, nor directly via USB. The first messages I see are Elevation CCs when I take the instrument out of the vertical power on position.

We made some early tests with both Touché and Touché SE.

Touché requires too much power to be connected on the USB MIDI Host of the Anyma Phi. But as the Touché also has a MIDI out, you can connect it to the MIDI DIN in of the Anyma provided you insert the right adapter cables.
Touché SE works on the the USB MIDI Host though as it requires less power.

You can setup CC message on both the Touché and Touché SE (using Lié software) and the Anyma Phi, just set this up to your needs and start experimenting.

By the way, one can indeed control everything in the synth by using NRPN CC Message but the easiest and most efficient way to keep a consistant behavior between various patch would be to use the main "realtime control messages" handled by the Anyma Phi (these can be modified by the user).
Here is the list with default settings for the Anyma Phi:

Up to 2 CC message can be mixed to control Expression Control A/B/C/D which means you can have an easy 5 parameters setup.
Keep in mind most of the time in the factory patches Expression is used and Control A (which is assigned to Morph), you would have to add some mappings to the patches to map Control B, C and D to any parameter that you would find interesting to control.

Aodyo tells me to send back the Bagheera to change the battery. But I hat to wait about 3 months to get my "normal" sylphyo back. So I hesitate to send my bagheera to Aodyo. I can live without a fully functional battery.

I've always dealt directly with Aodyo in France (from the U.S.), and it has been a good and smooth experience.

The Sylphyo works for most folks directly out of the box, but as you play more and more you'll find that there are a lot of things you can alter to suit your particular style of playing. People come to this instrument from all backgrounds, and the settings you can control on the instrument I believe cover a wide range of playing styles.

@Clint The LUB camp should be disbanded. It seems Aodyo is squarely in the SOR camp (shortage of resources). When obvious problems manifest and improvements needed, the users deserve them, as soon as possible. The continuous striving for excellence is an outstanding quest...... Compatible MPE? Non, c'est un synthétiseur monophonique, le MPE n'a pas d’intérêt en soi. Est-ce que ça peut prendre les données d'expression (CC74, pitch-bend 48 semitons, aftertouch) en single channel? Absolument!!! J'ai plusieurs contrôleurs MPE et ils fonctionnent comme un charme en single channel ou via un channel merger.
En fait c'est même mieux, le synthé peux prendre un CC comme données d'expression et remplacer la vélocité. C'est particulièrement utile pour les simulations d' instruments à vents ou à cordes.

Le piezo interne est mono et peut moduler n'importe quoi dans le système. Directement comme source audio à "pinger" dans un résonateur. Ou convertir en courbe de vélocité/expression avec l'enveloppe follower. J'utilise deux microphones contact pas cher. Chacun sur un canal L ou R et tu peux contrôler deux oscillateurs/sources indépendantes de cette façon. C'est très flexible. Tu peux programmer des seuils de déclenchement où un micro trigge un oscilateur à fort volume et juste passe dans un résonateur à faible volume. Le pitch peut être associé indépendamment via l'arp ou un séquenceur (ou n'importe quoi...).

Et le synthé peut être paraphonique dans une certaine mesure.

Bref il y a de quoi s'amuser... La seule limite est ton immagination et la charge cpu...

I thought about the mini USB … but couldn't imagine because of the standard USB plug. So all sylphyo up-to-date. Great controller for Sequential analog synths. all the best :-)

@thecoastguard you are not alone. I have the same problem. I got some help and a beta OS via email but not quite solved. So I’ve left my Anyma Phi powered on for months. Have you fixed yours?

I get ppp to ff with no problem.

I have adopted most of the Sylphyo SWAM recommended settings or their equivalent due to the updated SWAM 3 interface.
The important thing is to set the SWAM compressor to the minimum otherwise the attack (for wind instruments at least) tend to be too aggressive.
The SWAM compressor setting is in the effects page.

I support this feature request.

But I expect a problem with Compass. How do we tell it the direction we want to play?
We would need some sort of Center, Reset, Set Direction, however you name it.

Otherwise we could only play on stages that face north :-)

We had a chance to try the R1 recently. It is very nice to hold and the lights are neat. It is targeted at beginners and occasional players with very low expectations regarding performance and quality, and the sound set is aimed at the asian market.

Yes. Similar problem here:

I like to map Roll CC to Pitchbend (unfortunately not directly available in the Sylphyo yet). In normal mode there is a hysteresis in the neutral position, a kind of "platform", where values do not change. This is basically good, but you cannot pitch smoothly across the neutral position. Absolute mode would be the method of choice, but here your Roll range is 90° left/right, which is hardly playable.

One could say "scale the absolute Roll CC to the range you want", but not everyone in every setup can process 14Bit pitchbend coming from the Sylphyo. If you are bound to 7Bit pitchbend, you would upscale less than a quarter of the 0-127 full range and this leads to audible steps.

I think high-resolution sensor output should be scaled in the instrument, while full sensor data are available, not after MIDI translation.

@jjaylds At this point, fingerings can only be added / modified by Aodyo and distributed in a firmware update. The ability for users to add / modify fingerings has been requested and discussed, but there has been no action so far (that we know of).

An additional CC as indicator for the Roll direction left/right is not the best idea. Selectable CCs for left/right would be the way to go. Set them to the same value: play as usual. Set them different: You get one for Roll left and one for Roll right. Same for Compass.

Now I got the bottom of the fault!
The battery indicator AND the way of recharching it : after more or less 48h of recharching without any sign of the Sylphyo functioning, it finally started with full charge on the indicator!
Moral : don't trust it!

@zelio This has always been possible under macOS. Most people with this issue are using Windows drivers that present this limitation.

In a future update we could maybe consider having a separate USB-MIDI device port dedicated to the editor (or if not possible at least let you dedicate an existing port to editor communication, which would prevent the port from being used for MIDI routing).
In the meantime you can leave the first USB-MIDI device port to the editor, and use the MIDI DIN ports for your DAW, as @frank suggested.

The Midi channels will be different for each note played, the CC are fixed
And since the Phi is in omni receive mode, all channels will be received.

since the Phi is monophonic one has to adapt the playing style to single notes,

Unles you wat to create a 4 voice or 8 voice Anyma Phi. Like Oberheim did with the 4 voice and 8 voice machine, constructed with 4 to 8 SEM modules. Will be interesting !!

a) Using external USB midi controller to play or remote control the Anyma Phi is the reason why we integrated a USB Host plug. Only thing to know is that we didn't had the chance to check every MIDI controller with the Anyma Phi but any class compliant USB MIDI controller should work.
We tested the Korg Nanostudio which is a superset of Korg Nanokey2.

b) MPE compatibility
As a monophonic synth, the Anyma Phi is not really MPE compatible but can be setup to behave as one MPE voice

c) yes adaptation of all the patch is possible to use the Piezo as a note trigger instead of external MIDI device
